Clayton County Employees Prepare for Worst-Case Scenario- CBS 46

CBS Atlanta 46

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) –

For the first time, Clayton County is training employees how to handle “active shooter” scenarios in the workplace.

More than 30 county department officials and managers sat through two hours of training Friday morning, punctuated by a live-action demonstration featuring county officials and a gunman, in the Clayton County Commission Chamber.

“If nothing else, it opened up a lot of eyes,” said County Commission Chairman Jeff Turner.  “They see how vulnerable they can be if they don’t have a plan together.”

Clayton County officials cite recent examples of shootings in workplaces across the country as a reason why employees need to have formal training on how to handle the “active shooter” scenario.
